A home hero heads the standings as we go east for another two NTC thrillers at Round 2
Just a few short days after the inaugural Northern Talent Cup got in gear at the Sachsenring, the class of 2020 are ready to do it all again. Another two races put another 50 points on the table in Round 2, with the grid heading north east to the second challenge of the season: the Lausitzring.
It’s home hero Freddie Heinrich (PrüstelGP Junior Team) who arrives as the points leader, with the German having won the very first race of the season and then taken a podium in a shortened Race 2. Can he extend that lead and show the same form at a different track? Or can those who took it to the wire against the PrüstelGP Junior rider fight back?
Race 2 winner Soma Görbe (HRE Team) arrives as the closest challenger. Just off the podium in the first race and on the top step in the second, he’s only three points behind and showed an encouraging step forward between the two races at the Sachsenring. It’s still tight in third too, with Jacopo Hosciuc (Hos Racing Team) only five more points in arrears after showing serious speed throughout the Sachsenring weekend.
Lorenz Luciano (Junior Black Knights Team), meanwhile, is fourth and another who’s been in the mix throughout, and Stefan Zuda (Motoracing23 Klub V ACR) is fifth overall following a notable leap up the timesheets in Race 2 to take a podium… after only taking handful of points in the morning. And what of Jakub Gurecky (JRT of Automotodrom Brno)? He was on pole at Round 1 and in the lead in the early stages in both races before getting hit by technical trouble, so he’s shown some serious speed. There are plenty points left in play in 2020, if his luck can change…
Those who found themselves just out of the fight for the podium will be looking to reset and make a step forward at the Lausitzring too. Jakob Rosenthaler (RTR – Rosenthaler) was the man leading the way in the second battle on track in both races in Round 1, with a super consistent P5 and P6. The likes of Noel Willemsen (NW Racing), Niklas Kitzbichler (Racing-Team-Kitzbichler) and Jonas Kocourek (JRT of Automotodrom Brno) were up in that fight too in both races… and there were flashes of speed from Kas Beekmans (KNMV), his teammate Damian Boessenkool (KNMV), Dustin Schneider (PrüstelGP Junior Team), Tymur Kostin (SP – Moto Junior Team Ukraine) and Tibor Varga (Forty Racing). What can they do at a different track, and with a little more experience?
Stay up to date with everything from Round 2 of the NTC at the Lausitzring, with both races on Sunday the 13th of September. Race 1 starts at 10:50 (GMT +2), before Race 2 gets in gear at 16:20.
