The Cathedral of Speed gears up for the fifth season of the Northern Talent Cup
Get ready for another thrilling season of the Northern Talent Cup! The fifth season is set to kick off at the legendary Motul TT Circuit Assen, racing alongside WorldSBK. With riders, teams, and fans eagerly anticipating the start of the season, the NTC promises to deliver competitive racing from start to finish as the stars of tomorrow learn their craft and take their place on the Road to MotoGP™.
The riders have already had a taste of the action in pre-season testing at Oschersleben, where they showcased their talents aboard the new Honda NSF250 bikes and tested the capabilities of the new Pirelli tyres. With riders from seven nationalities making their mark in the top ten, the diversity of talent was evident. Among them were three Germans, an Italian, a Dutchman, a Frenchman, an Austrian, two Swiss riders, and a Hungarian.
A notable highlight of the test was the stellar performance of the rookies, with five newcomers securing spots in the top ten. Leading this charge was the sensational Ben Weiger (JB-Racing), who stormed to the top of the timesheets. Close behind were more experienced campaigners, Matteo Masili (MM Racing Team), followed by Dutchman Jurrien Van Crugten (BB64 Academy). Martin Vincze (VM Racing Team), an NTC race winner, rounded out the top 10.
Looking back at last year’s races at Assen, it was a memorable weekend for the Phommara brothers. Levin Phommara (Team Phommara) claimed a sensational victory in Race 1, showcasing his skills in tricky conditions. In Race 2, it was Lenoxx Phommara who stole the show, securing a deserved win in dry conditions. This double victory for the Phommara brothers marked a significant moment in the NTC’s history. With Levin Phommara returning to the Cup in 2024, the question arises: can he replicate his success, especially if the rain returns to the Cathedral of Speed?
The first round of the NTC will have two races, with Race 1 scheduled to take place at 16:20 (UTC+2) on Saturday, followed by Race 2 on Sunday at 16:20 (UTC+2). Fans can catch all the action live on the NTC YouTube channel and across WorldSBK’s Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Twitch
