Nothing in it as the NTC heads back to the Sachsenring

13 June 2023

Lenoxx Phommara and Sessler are tied at the top, with 50 more points in play in Round 4

As the riders and fans left the Oschersleben circuit at the close of Round 3, most agreed on a few things: summer has arrived, schnitzel and currywurst are delicious (but only in moderation) and, most importantly, there is a story emerging in the 2023 NTC season. A tale of two riders in form, both emerging as favourites for the coveted NTC title, and both eager to outdo the other: Lenoxx Phommara (Team Phommara) and Rocco Sessler (MCA Racing), with two victories each and tied on 120 points at the top of the standings.

In fact, there are stories everywhere you look. We could talk about the unbelievable misfortune of 2022 rookie sensation, Jurrien Van Crugten (BB64 Academy), who coming into 2023 could rightly have been counted as a favourite, but now finds himself a distant 100 points off the lead pair through no fault of his own. We could talk about the impressive development of rookies Antoine Nativi (CTM 83 Junior Team) and Kyano Schoo (KS-Racing), who are punching well above their weight. We could talk of Filip Novotny (DG CORSE) and Levin Phommara (Team Phommara), two with some experience and points to prove, and both beginning to show what they are capable of. Of teammates Sessler and Julius Frellsen (MCA Racing), who somehow manage to combine a fierce rivalry with friendship and teamwork. And it’s far from a two-horse race at the top, as all it would take is a DNF from one or both of the leaders to launch the likes of Frellsen, Martin Vincze (VM RACING TEAM), and Nativi into the mix.

So, what incredible story will unfold before our eyes this weekend? Will it be a maiden victory for the fast-learning Frellsen, a much overdue victory for Italian Matteo Masili (Fairium Next Generation Riders Team), or a top 5 finish for rookie Schoo? Let’s find out! Two more races await the NTC teams and riders this Saturday and Sunday. Tune in for Race 1 at 17:00 (GMT +2) on Saturday before Race 2 at 08:50 on Sunday to see who will emerge triumphant at the mighty Sachsenring!
